You’ve turned your back on everything you’ve been taught, written yourself off as a Christian failure. If only your Youth Pastor from “back in the day” knew all that you’ve done, been involved with, or how you’ve compromised your faith. Yeah, there once was a day when you invited all your friends to youth events or church, stood for something at school, and made commitments around the campfire. Gone are those days. Now, in your young adulthood you reflect on all that could have been. Swimming in a sea of mistakes from your late teens to your early twenties you begin to wonder, “How did I get here?” You, along with 80% or more of your peers are questioning if you ever even believed. You are a Youth Group Dropout.
Well, you can continue on the path you’re on, if it’s workin’ for ya’ (but my guess is that it’s not). Or, you can return to the One who paid it all and is ready to bring you back. When the party’s over, the boyfriend leaves and the drama simmers – there’s a longing in your heart.
Something’s missing. SomeOne is missing. The only One who can fill that longing.
He’s the same One who is still waiting for you, with arms WIDE open and a heart beating a tad quicker at the possibility of your return. He loves you so much! He’s not waiting to beat you over the head with your Bible, but by His love wants to hang out again, create some goals for life and BE there for you. He’s the God of second (and 3rd and 4th and 5th) chances. With Him all the titles you’ve worn the past few years are replaced with the only title that matters, “His Child.”
“I have loved you with an everlasting love.” Jer. 31:3
“Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matt. 11:28
“Compassion and forgiveness belong to the Lord our God, though we have rebelled against Him.” Daniel 9:9
“Out of the depths I call to You, LORD!
Lord, listen to my voice; let Your ears be attentive to my cry for help.
LORD, if You considered sins, Lord, who could stand?
But with You there is forgiveness.” Psalm 130
“We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and by nature we were children under wrath, as the others were also. But God, who is abundant in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us, made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. By grace you are saved! Eph. 2:3-5
Won’t you come back?
