The BIG picture is a bit overwhelming. It’s, well… it’s BIG.
For the person contemplating becoming a follower of Christ the BIG picture seems intimidating, vulnerable, questionable.
For the young Christian, easily discouraged at how “far they have to go” in their walk with Christ, the BIG picture seems impossible, unfathomable, unDOable.
For the woman/man struggling in finding joy in a relationship the BIG picture looks bleak, hopeless, dark.
For the one faced with a heartbreaking diagnosis, the BIG picture appears uncertain, scary, unfair.
For those called to a ministry that is OUT of your comfort zone, expertise or geographic location, the BIG picture seems daunting, unpredictable, impossible.
Whatever BIG picture you’re facing, God doesn’t call us to live in the BIG picture. He calls us to live TODAY. He IS the GOD of the BIG picture, but meets us exactly where we are today.
For those contemplating following Christ:
“Choose today who you will serve” Josh. 24:15 for “look, today is the day of salvation!” 2 Cor. 6:2. You don’t have to have to know what it’s all going to look like, trust him TODAY.
For the wavering Christian:
“Take up your cross daily (TODAY) and follow” Jesus. Luke 9:23 Don’t worry about yesterday’s mistakes, failures, shortcomings, follow Him today and walk in those new mercies that are new every DAY! He doesn’t expect you to be Christ-like overnight and forever, just be more like Christ today.
Lam 3: 23 Great is his faithfulness;
His mercies begin afresh each morning.
For the failed relationship, the diagnosis, the financial insecurities, the ministry calling, the emotional turmoil… Choose to trust TODAY. That’s all He asks of us. Live for Him today and rest in His mercies from yesterday.
Give us today the food we need. Matthew 6:11
Don’t worry about tomorrow… today’s trouble is enough for today.” Matthew 6:34
Trust Him, today.
Follow Him, today.
