I did not get up at 4am to watch the wedding festivities in London, England this morning, but once I DID get up, I enjoyed watching watching the Prince and his BRIDE being carried throughout the streets of London in an elegant carriage surrounded by white, royal horses and protected by the dedicated, focused Royal Guard. Some on horseback with knight-like headgear. Some, like pictured here to the left, marching. Preparing the way for the royalty.
I noticed something while watching, first with the knight-like guards, then with the puffy headed guards in red. You can’t see their faces. Like, if my son was in the Royal Guard, I wouldn’t be able to watch on TV and say, “Oh! There he is!” See, their job, their purpose, their focus is to protect and allow the attention to be focused on the Prince and his Bride. They are the stars of today’s “show”. The spotlight should be on them.
Do you see where this is heading?
We Christians, soldiers of Christ and members of THE Royal Guard, have the same purpose. It isn’t important that our faces or names be seen or noticed. In fact, if we’re doing our job, we WON’T be noticed. Our focus, our purpose, our job is to lift up Jesus. The ONE TRUE ROYAL KING. ” Not to us, LORD, not to us, but to Your name give glory.” Psalm 115:1
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9
